Tagging

Tagging allows you to keep detailed records about what you were doing at a certain time. This is especially useful if you like to track your work hours.

To tag some time you must first select it. The easiest way to select time is just by dragging on the timelines (hold down left mouse button while moving the mouse). While you are moving your mouse over the timelines, you will notice a hint which tells you more about the underlying activity. Mouse will also snap to starts and ends of activities so you can easily select whole activities.

Alternately you can also check checkboxes in the details part.

Once you have selected some time click on the Add tag button (you can also press Alt-t). A dialog will pop up where you can write your tags. Tags are just words which best describe your actions during that time. So for example you could write: Client X, Project X, Activity 1

By separating tags with comma you can later see reports for each tag, for example just for Client X. This means that figuring out how much time you spent working for Client X is just as easy as seeing statistics for this tag.

Quick tagging
After you make a selection you can alternately also right click on selection. In the context menu you can choose from 10 last used tags.

Edit, Delete a tag
To edit a tag, right click a tag on the Tag timeline and choose Edit.
To delete a tag, right click a tag on the Tag timeline and choose Delete.

Renaming individual tags
Sometimes you use some tag and you later want to rename it. Lets say you tagged Client 1 on a couple of tags, and you want to rename it to Client 2.

  1. Go to Day view and make sure this tag is used on selected day. If it is not used already, select some time and add this tag.
  2. Click anywhere on Tag timeline to select it.
  3. Right click on this tag in Summary part and choose rename.
  4. Rename the tag.

If you rename it to some pre-existing tag, all instances of this tag will be filed under the new tag and this tag will be deleted.
